The Freestone Guide is not only our most popular custom boat, but our most popular kit as well. The Guide features an enormous amount of dry storage, level floors, a front pedestal with dry storage, and our 180 degree forward cockpit.
Plans: Freestone Guide plans come with up to 60 pages of step-by-step instructions. The plans cover all the bases, from setting up a clean and safe working environment to the finishing and commissioning of the boat. Included in the plans are a detailed materials list, recommended tools, and a Montana Boatbuilders-endorsed list of suppliers of high-quality marine goods.
Kits: The kit features the same detailed instruction manual as our Plans offering, plus all wood, fiberglass, epoxy, and hardware. The Freestone Guide Kit features CNC cut scarf joints in the side and bottom panels, and CNC cut scarf joints in the gunnels. All the other pieces are cut to length, shaped, and labeled. Two wood oars, bronze oarlocks and bushings, stainless bow eye, and seat rope are included in the Kit. The epoxy and fiberglass will be shipped directly from System Three Resins and includes fiberglass cloth, fiberglass tape, Silvertip resin and hardener, mixing cup and sticks, latex gloves, squeegees, and the System Three Epoxy Manual.
